Fate un respiro ma un bel respiro e poi immergetevi anima e corpo (e senza sensi di colpa) in questa musica e non aspettatevi nient’altro di quello che saprà darvi, di quello che vi piomberà addosso fra capo e collo….Lo ammettiamo, inizialmente qualche difficoltà l’abbiamo avuta anche noi ma è normale perché non si tratta solo di un sentire ma di un varcare una soglia oscura ed indefinita, cosa non semplice anzi ma in un dubbio fatelo….non ve ne pentirete. Valafar, altro non ci è dato sapere tranne che trattasi di un progetto solista di stanza in un imprecisato luogo degli Stati Uniti….un progetto fuori da un comune sentire, fuori da un tutto….ma che sentire!! E se la parola black metal farà già storcere il naso a molti aspettatevi ben altro…quello che andrete ad ascoltare non sarà il “classico” black metal ma un “depressive”- black metal dissonante portato all’estremo, oscuro, malefico, disturbante, difficile da spiegare ma che ha la bellezza e la purezza di un fiore notturno proteso malgrado la sua stessa “natura” verso una luce, una luce diversa da come la possiamo banalmente concepire ma pur sempre una luce. From The Shadows Of Dismembering And Impurity ci sboccia di fronte agli occhi (orecchie) come qualcosa di epico, anomalo, sfuggevole…poi parte Slutten På Livet in un lento e funereo incedere che sa molto di un nostro misero e stupido vivere (guardatevi intorno), a seguire la durissima title track, abbisso totale ma forse anche possibile redenzione, disarmonica fino ad uno spasmo fisico ma splendida (non mollate perché ne varrà la pena) e A Tragic Journey Through The Realm Of Sorrow in un pestare senza speranza alcuna e dove la voce di Valafar si trasformerà in un respiro/alito/espiazione, forse dannazione, forse quell’anelare ad una luce eterna. Questo è quanto, cioè a ben vedere anche nulla (da parte nostra, di un nostro scrivere), vorremmo dirvi che questo è un EP vivo, terribilmente vivo….non osiamo tanto ma lo lasciamo a voi, alle vostre orecchie ed a quello che vi illudete “essere” e date per scontato, certo…Da Roots! è tutto e come sempre buon ascolto (qui).

Take a deep breath and then immerse yourself body and soul (and without guilt) in this music and don’t expect anything else than what it will be able to give you, what will fall on you between head and neck….Lo let’s admit, initially we too had some difficulties but it’s normal because it’s not just a matter of feeling but of crossing a dark and indefinite threshold, which is not easy indeed but when in doubt, do it ….you won’t regret it. Valafar, we don’t know anything else except that it’s a solo project stationed in an unspecified place in the United States….a project out of a common feeling, out of a whole….but what a feeling!! And if the word black metal will already make many turn up their noses, expect much more …what you are going to listen to will not be the “classic” black metal but a “depressive” – dissonant black metal taken to the extreme, dark, evil, disturbing, difficult to explain but which has the beauty and purity of a nocturnal flower reaching out despite its very “nature” towards a light, a different light from how we can trivially conceive it but still a light. From The Shadows Of Dismembering And Impurity blossoms in front of our eyes (ears) as something epic, anomalous, elusive…then Slutten På Livet sets off in a slow and funereal gait that smacks a lot of our miserable and stupid life (look at you around), followed by the very hard title track, total abyss but perhaps also possible redemption, disharmonic up to a physical but splendid spasm (don’t give up because it will be worth it) and A Tragic Journey Through The Realm Of Sorrow in a hopeless beating and where Valafar’s voice will turn into a breath/breath/atonement, perhaps damnation, perhaps that yearning for eternal light. That’s it, that is, on closer inspection even nothing (on our part, of our writing), we would like to tell you that this is a living EP, terribly alive …. we don’t dare so much but we leave it to you, to your ears and to what you delude yourself “to be” and take for granted, of course…From Roots! that’s all and as always good listening (here).
