“Di un mondo al contrario” (e noi qui ne sappiamo qualcosa)
Correva l’anno 2008 quando è nata la FDMR, piccola label indipendente dedita esclusivamente al formato vinilico in un periodo in cui il vinile veniva dato per morto e sepolto….15 anni dopo (crediamo di tanto lavoro e soddisfazioni) e quando ad essere dato per morto e sepolto tocca al Compact Disc (ed in effetti…) ecco che questi ragazzi si rimettono in gioco pubblicando una serie di album/compilation in formato CD…..Genialità, follia o entrambe le cose? Come riporta il titolo questa è una “Introduction” ad una band forse non molto conosciuta dalle nostre parti (ma qui cosa si pretende di conoscere a parte sanremo-tv ed i vari tormentoni estivi?) i The Luck Of Eden Hall (da Chicago, Illinois), una storia nata sul finire degli anni ’80 e proseguita fra vicissitudini varie che forse gli hanno fatto perdere quel famoso “treno” ma comunque un loro lo hanno fatto e bene. Oggi come band non esistono più, strade e percorsi diversi (Gregory Curvey e Mark Lofgren tra i fondatori della band si dedicheranno ad altro) ed ascoltando questa “Introduction” è veramente un peccato. Parlando di “generi” se vi piace il Paisley Underground anni ’80, la psichedelia anni ’70 od il garage-beat anni ’60 qui troverete pane per i vostri denti. Molte cover e qualche brano originale che tanto di cappello….Qui accontentatevi di “leggere” un piccolo assaggio (in tutto sono 18 brani), le bellissime Black Sheep (a firma SRC), This Is Strange (loro brano originale dal sound tipico di The Bevis Frond), una esplosiva Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey di Lennon/McCartney, la dolce Never My Love, Lucifer Sam (sì proprio quella dei Pink Floyd o meglio di Syd Barrett) fino allo psycho-blues dei Cunt Five in Psychotic Reaction ed a Something’s In The Air che vi farà letteralmente volare…..CD che uscirà per la FDMR in una mattina o pomeriggio di ottobre, ecco, se quel giorno non sapete cosa fare o ne avete abbastanza di un tutto regalatevi questo CD-Storia….sì è “solo” una piccola storia come milioni di altre ma in fondo sono proprio le piccole storie quelle più belle. Da Roots! È tutto e come sempre buon ascolto (dove?? Sul CD)….!!! Ci stavamo dimenticando di Lei…China Girl (Bowie/Iggy Pop) e che sentire superbo, superbo.

“Of a world in reverse” (and we know something about it here)
It was the year 2008 when FDMR was born, a small independent label dedicated exclusively to the vinyl format in a period in which vinyl was considered dead and buried…15 years later (we believe in a lot of work and satisfaction) and when to be given for dead and buried it’s up to the Compact Disc (and in fact) here these guys are getting back into the game by publishing a series of albums/compilations in CD format…..Genius, madness or both? As the title indicates, this is an “Introduction” to a band perhaps not very well known in our area (but what do we pretend to know here apart from sanremo-tv and the various summer hits?) The Luck Of Eden Hall (from Chicago, Illinois), a story born at the end of the ’80s and continued through various vicissitudes that perhaps made them miss that famous “train” but in any case they did it and did it well. Today as a band they no longer exist, different paths and paths (Gregory Curvey and Mark Lofgren among the founders of the band will dedicate themselves to other things) and listening to this “Introduction” is truly a shame. Speaking of “genres”, if you like 80s Paisley Underground, 70s psychedelia or 60s garage-beat you will find something for you here. Many covers and some original songs, hats off to you….Here you can just “read” a small sample (there are 18 songs in total), the beautiful Black Sheep (signed by SRC), This Is Strange (their original song with the typical sound of The Bevis Frond), an explosive Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey by Lennon/McCartney, the sweet Never My Love, Lucifer Sam (yes, the one by Pink Floyd or rather by Syd Barrett) up to the psycho-blues of Cunt Five in Psychology CD-History…yes it’s “just” a little story like millions of others but ultimately it’s the little stories that are the most beautiful. From Roots! That’s all and as always happy listening (where?? On the CD)….!!! We were forgetting about Her…China Girl (Bowie/Iggy Pop) and what a superb, superb feeling.
