Di dissonanze….2021, febbraio, la pandemia di Covid (o quello che era) a gettare le basi di un nuovo mondo, di una nuova “struttura”, asettica e controllata….La BadMoodMan Music, label indipendente con base nella Federazione Russa…gli Odradek Room band di Mariupol, Donetsk Oblast, Ucraina….2022, ancora febbraio, ha inizio un conflitto tuttora in corso che mal comprendiamo (almeno noi) e del quale non se ne vede una fine ma una cosa è certa, anzi due….un conflitto che il popolo di entrambe le parti non vuole ma che evidentemente fa comodo a molti. C’è qualcosa in questa musica che strazia e dilania, che sa di presagio, di una fine imminente, di una “umanità” sempre più bestiale ed assuefatta ad una propaganda di regime che ha già tutto deciso e messo in conto….Non ci sono né buoni né cattivi solo una deriva, abisso, oblio, nessuno escluso, nessuno che si possa dire non colpevole….perché alla fine lo siamo un po’ tutti. Sergey Kuznetsov al basso, Artyom Krikhtenko alla voce, chitarra e tastiere e Vladislav Vyshegorodskikh alla chitarra qui al loro terzo e per ora ultimo lavoro….Un sound dalle atmosfere melodic-dark metal che ben riassume questo mondo in balia di un nulla…una “bellezza” che forse non ci meritiamo più. The Room, le aperture prog di Breaching The Soil, la solitudine di Clarity, di Prayer, di Escape (pura e cristallina bellezza) fino alla conclusiva Tree Of Time in uno scandire solo apparentemente eterno. Album del mese, dell’anno, di un pomeriggio qualsiasi aspettando che tutto passi….da un principio ad una fine. Da Roots! è tutto e come sempre buon ascolto (qui).

Of dissonances….2021, February, the Covid pandemic (or whatever it was) to lay the foundations of a new world, of a new aseptic and controlled “structure”….BadMoodMan Music, an independent label based in Russian Federation…the Odradek Room band from Mariupol, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine….2022, still February, an ongoing conflict begins that we do not understand (at least we) and of which we do not see an end but a one thing is certain, or rather two….a conflict that the people of both sides do not want but which evidently suits many. There is something in this music that tears and tears apart, that smacks of an omen, of an imminent end, of an increasingly bestial “humanity” and addicted to a regime propaganda that has already decided and taken everything into account….There are neither good nor bad, just a drift, abyss, oblivion, no one excluded, no one who can be said not guilty….because in the end we all are to some extent. Sergey Kuznetsov on bass, Artyom Krikhtenko on vocals, guitar and keyboards and Vladislav Vyshegorodskikh on guitar here at their third and for now last work….A sound with melodic-dark metal atmospheres that well sums up this world at the mercy of nothing…a “beauty” that perhaps we no longer deserve. The Room, the prog openings of Breaching The Soil, the loneliness of Clarity, of Prayer, of Escape (pure and crystalline beauty) up to the final Tree Of Time in a seemingly eternal chanting. Album of the month, of the year, of any afternoon waiting for everything to pass….from a beginning to an end. From Roots! that’s all and as always good listening (here).
