“In the foulest pits, in the darkest coves, They are rooted as oaks, and nimble as hares. Bound in the vale of darkness in vast droves. Where it seldom hears, the voice of prayers.” (Vales Of Darkness), The Majesty And Beauty Of A FallenWhy must we live among such decay? Of utter futility and rot? We are a lost cause, a curse. In a state of conditional love and malice. La disperata violenza di Light Of The Eternal Dawn o della title track oscuro e profondo abisso ma anche tenera luce “There is no warmth to embrace, Done out of our disgrace, I haste into the forest of light. Away from the torture of winter’s night.”….fino a due bellissimi brani strumentali lasciati alla sola chitarra acustica In The Twilight Of The Night e Woodland Songs Of The Aspen Forest assolutamente da brivido…e che dire, che dirvi, che dirci….che un oblio ci/vi sia lieve rifugio, memoria, ostinata bellezza. “We searched and we longed, For this eternal rest and joy, Where are we to behold it? Through the tempest of flowing sorrow, And under the moonlight shadow. We climb, we gleam, we weep” (We Wept Under The Moonlight Shadow). Da Roots! è tutto e come sempre buon ascolto (qui).

And if oblivion will have to be (because sooner or later it will be and regardless of a poor christ or a poor devil to relieve us of pains and tribulations) let it be oblivion but at least when it is given to us let us try to grasp all its ineluctable majesty in a distant flow from the sacred, far from a profane….it is just oblivion, forgetfulness, flux, a nothing, a whole. And you have to strip yourself of a whole to enter this work (opera/concept album) signed by Fathomage (alias Akul from Adelaide, Australia) certainly not simple, certainly not for aperitif ears and various sequins….A melodic/atmospheric black metal and dreamlike metal up to a mental and physical “exhaustion” (and yes, it reminds us of the great Agalloch), a getting lost with no return where you can enter without fear (don’t pay attention to a genre)…these will be the days of oblivion? “In the foulest pits, in the darkest coves, They are rooted as oaks, and nimble as hares. Bound in the vale of darkness in vast droves. Where it seldom hears, the voice of prayers” (Vales Of Darkness), The Majesty And Beauty Of A FallenWhy must we live among such decay? Of utter futility and rot? We are a lost cause, a curse. In a state of conditional love and malice”. The desperate violence of Light Of The Eternal Dawn or of the title track dark and deep abyss but also tender light “There is no warmth to embrace, Done out of our disgrace, I haste into the forest of light. Away from the torture of winter’s night“….up to two beautiful instrumental pieces for solo acoustic guitar In The Twilight Of The Night and Woodland Songs Of The Aspen Forest absolutely thrilling…and what to say, what to tell you, what tell us….that an oblivion is/there is a slight refuge, memory, stubborn beauty. “We searched and we longed, For this eternal rest and joy, Where are we to behold it? Through the storm of flowing sorrow, And under the moonlight shadow. We climb, we gleam, we weep” (We Wept Under The Moonlight Shadow). From Roots! that’s all and as always good listening (here).
