Una dichiarazione d’intenti pesa come un macigno e che andrà ad aprire questo album di debutto a firma Carving Void, Markus al basso, Tom alla voce, Eric alla chitarra e Sebastian alla batteria; arrivano da Dresda / Lipsia, Germania, tre “luoghi” che se la memoria ha ancora un senso riporteranno alcuni di voi ad un altro tempo, nel corso di un tempo che a ben vedere è sempre lo stesso tempo, muri, reticolati, “nuovi” fascismi, stesse quotidiane miserie se non ancora più subdole e mostruose. Questo è quello che ci ricordano questi ragazzi e che (a prescindere da un “genere” che potrà piacere o meno) noi fedelmente riportiamo e tanto di cappello “We as a band and our lyrics stand alongside the oppressed of all kinds”; basterebbe questo se non fosse che dietro a queste parole c’è un lavoro, autoprodotto, che merita di essere raccontato, no, non si tratta di un “capolavoro” ma di un ottimo trash-death metal ma con un‘attitudine molto “core”, riff a manetta, ritmica devastante, praticamente assenti tecnicismi solisti vari, cori “street punk” come nella già citata traccia omonima, un suono pieno ma allo stesso tempo “grezzo” (necessario); 9 tracce dove si pesterà durissimo, dall’inizio alla fine, inutile aspettarsi qualche momento dove magari poter tirare il fiato perché non lo troverete, sanguinerete e basta (e badate che non è poco). Fra Slayer e Carcass Dehumanized, scura, cupa, cattiva come questo mondo si merita (ma anche con una bella variazione armonica nel refrain ed una chitarra più “liquida” nel finale mentre riff di scuola doom andranno ad introdurre una pesantissima Killers Embrace ma il resto sarà altro, doppia cassa a manetta, rivoli death, il growl vocale di Tom che sembra poter divorare tutto il male di questo fottuto mondo (lo sappiamo, non è possibile ma ci piace pensarlo) ed ancora l’”hardcore” (non quello di scuola anni ’80 ma come approccio) di Demoralized (Black Flag?), l’incedere spietato e trash metal di Culture Of Separation e di Erasement mentre si torna su ritmi/terreni più paludosi (di Crowbariana memoria) in Your Inner Flame, un trash-sludge non scontato che almeno per un pò vi “allieverà” l’anima dal peso di quei demoni interiori che sapete bene di portarvi dentro ma che “è meglio lasciare lì”, sbagliato (poi fate come cazzo volete). Cosa manca a questo A World In Decline? Quei due/tre pezzi “trascina album” ma è un bene, è segno che è un lavoro onesto, non “studiato”, di pancia, a pelle e questo ci piace ed affascina; no, non è solo metalcore ma è altro ed è “fatto bene”. Da Roots! è tutto e come sempre buon ascolto (qui).

A mission statement weighs like a boulder that will be open to opening this first albumsigns Carving Void, Markus on bass, Tom on vocals, Eric on guitar and Sebastian on drums; they come from Dresden / Leipzig, Germany, three “places” that, if memory still has a meaning, will bring back some of you to another time, in the course of a time which, on closer inspection, is always the same time, walls, reticulated, “new” fascisms, the same daily miseries if not even more subtle and monstrous. This is what these guys remind us and (how to escape from a music that will pleaseor not) we faithfully report andhats off “We as a band and our lyrics stand alongside the oppressed of all kinds”; this would be enough were it not that behind these words there is a work, self-produced, that deserves to be told, no, it is not a “masterpiece” but an excellent trash-death metal but witha very “core” attitude, full throttle riffs, devastating rhythm, practically absent solo technicalitiesvarious, “street punk” choirs as already in the aforementioned track of the same name, a full sound but at the same time “Raw” (necessary); 9 tracks where you will step on very hard, from start to finish, it is useless to wait for a few moments where maybe you can catch your breath because you will not find it, you will just bleed (and beware that it is not cheap). Between Slayer and Carcass Dehumanized, dark, somber, as this world deserves (but also with a nice variation harmonica in the refrain and a more “liquid” guitar in the final while doom school riffs will go to insert a very heavy Killers Embrace but the rest will be something else, double throttle case, rivulets death, Tom’s vocal growl that seems to devour all the evil in this fucking world (as we know, it’s not possible but we like to think so) and still the “hardcore” (not that of school years ’80 but as an approach) of Demoralized (Black Flag?), the ruthless and trash metal pace of Culture Of Separation and Erasement while returning to more marshy rhythms / terrains (by Crowbariana memory) in Your Inner Flame, a non-obvious trash-sludge that will “cheer you up” for a while the soul from the weight of those inner demons that you know well you carry inside but that “is better leave it there ”, wrong (then do as the fuck you want). What’s missing from this A World In Decline? Those two / three pieces “drag album” but it’s good, it’s a sign that it’s an honest work, not “studied”, of belly, skin and this we like and fascinate; no, it’s not only metalcore but it’s something else and it’s “well done”.
