Prima dedicategli un ascolto e se poi credete che questi 30 minuti di musica registrata live un senso non lo abbiano (plausibile) allora guardatevi intorno, guardate bene quella che ci viene spacciata quotidianamente come “normalità”….ed un suo senso…..Non esiste nessuna normalità ed in cuor vostro lo sapete bene ma solo un “quieto vivere” meno dispendioso e probabilmente più rassicurante (fino a che dura)…..Cosa che non lo è la musica di Anton Ponomarev (ne abbiamo già parlato qui), folle, geniale, ostinatamente “diverso” nel portare la sua musica (jazz? free jazz? avant-garde?) oltre…e lo ammettiamo, un oltre “troppo” anche per noi. Un senso (ma ha poi così importanza che la musica abbia un senso? L’arte deve averlo?) che non troverete né ad un primo ascolto e forse neanche ad un decimo…o forse mai ma aspettate, aspettate perché ne varrà la pena (ora ci arriviamo)…..Provate a staccare quella cazzo di spina che vi (ci) tiene connessi giorno e notte ad una “normalità liquida preconfezionata” e mettetevi all’ascolto di questo duo (Ponomarev al sax e la bravissima Violeta Garcia al cello ed elettroniche varie) per quella semplice curiosità che oggi è un resistere, un non mollare, respiro….finanche vita. E poi che accade? Accade nulla….accade solo che questi 30 minuti scarsi di Umbo (si un’unica traccia in un dispiegarsi apparentemente disarticolato e malinconico) si faranno una cosa sola, materia viva alle vostre orecchie, cervello, anima….un ascolto “altro” da quello che realmente crederete di stare ascoltando, un ri-trovarvi in una dimensione solo vostra, estranea a tutto l’inutile frastuono quotidiano eppure più vera…..ecco quel “senso”. Magia? Stronzate?…Liberissimi di scegliere, liberissimi di un accontentarvi o meno. Da Roots! è tutto e come sempre buon ascolto (qui).

First give it a listen and then if you believe that these 30 minutes of live recorded music don’t have a (plausible) meaning, then look around you, take a good look at what is passed off to us every day as “normality”….and its meaning.. …There is no normality and in your heart you know it well but only a less expensive and probably more reassuring “quiet life” (until it lasts)…..Which is not the music of Anton Ponomarev (ne we have already talked about here), crazy, brilliant, stubbornly “different” in taking his music (jazz? free jazz? avant-garde?) further… and we admit it, “too much” further even for us. A meaning (but is it so important that music has a meaning? Does art have to have it?) that you won’t find at first listen and maybe not even at a tenth…and maybe never but wait, wait because it will be worth it worth it (we’ll get there now)…..Try to pull the fucking plug that keeps you (us) connected day and night to a “prepackaged liquid normality” and listen to this duo (Ponomarev on sax and the very good Violeta Garcia on cello and various electronics) for that simple curiosity which today is a resistance, a not giving up, breath….even life. And then what happens? Nothing happens….it just happens that these scarce 30 minutes of Umbo (yes a single track in an apparently disjointed and melancholy) unfolding they will become a single thing, living matter to your ears, brain, soul …. a listening “other” than what you really believe you are listening to, a re-finding in a dimension only yours, extraneous to all the useless daily noise and yet truer….. here is that “sense”. Magic? Bullshit?…Free to choose, very free to settle or not. From Roots! that’s all and as always good listening (here).
