Non è mai bello ma qualche volta bisogna pur “scegliere”….in caso contrario saremmo la ben più blasonata rivista Rolling Stone ma così non è, non ce lo possiamo permettere…però ci proviamo ugualmente. Fra le ultime uscite di questo fine 2022 c’è un piccolo EP di sole tre tracce dei finlandesi Aethyrick (un duo composto da Gall ed Exile…ed a dire la verità non ne sappiamo molto di più) qui da noi forse/probabilmente sconosciuti ai più ed ai meno ma con un discreto seguito nei paesi nordici e con alle spalle già una bella storia…..Quello che suonano è un melodic black-metal (aspettate cazzo…aspettate) dai tratti epici e drammatici ed a scanso di equivoci lo abbiamo scelto perché è un EP veramente notevole ma non fermatevi ad un primo ascolto perché non lo meriterebbe……Progressioni armoniche che tanto di cappello in un crescendo da mozzare il fiato (The Roads Walked Alone) “violenta” si ma quanta malinconia in questi riff portati all’estremo…fino alla fine di un mondo dove tutto si placa e sembra ritrovare un senso. Ancora più onirica Astral Ecstasies a dilaniere quel che resta di un mondo in disfacimento….da brivido (apettatevi quel che è e deve essere, riff a manetta trascinati da un bel cantato in growl, nessun compiacimento ad un facile ascolto eppure arde e brucia di una intensità immensa). Infine Turning The Wheel Of Seasons a prenderci per mano ed elevarci oltre un nostro miserrimo scorrere…..una devastazione totale (ma necessaria) che incanta ed affascina. 3 sole tracce alle quali abbandonarsi senza riserve (questo è il bello altrimenti non potrà funzionare…e non funzionerà). The Seventh non cambierà il corso della musica ma di un sentire forse si (nel nostro piccolo lo speriamo)….Da Roots! è tutto e come sempre buon ascolto (qui).

It’s never nice but sometimes you have to “choose”…otherwise we’d be the much more famous Rolling Stone magazine but it’s not like that, we can’t afford it…but we’ll try anyway. Among the latest releases of this end 2022 there is this small EP of only three tracks by the Finnish Aethyrick (a duo composed of Gall and Exile…to tell the truth we don’t know much more) here perhaps/probably unknown to more and less but with a moderate following in the Nordic countries and already with a good story behind them…..What they play is a melodic black-metal (fuck wait…wait) with epic and dramatic traits and for the avoidance of doubt we chose it because it is a truly remarkable EP but don’t stop at a first listen because it doesn’t deserve it……Harmonic progressions that hats off to a breath-taking crescendo (The Roads Walked Alone) “violent ”…but how much melancholy in these riffs taken to the extreme…..at the end of a world where everything calms down and seems to make sense again. Even more dreamlike Astral Ecstasies tearing apart what remains of a world in decay….thrilling (expect what it is and should be, full throttle riffs dragged by a beautiful growl singing, no complacency at an easy listening and yet it burns and burns with a immense intensity). Finally Turning The Wheel Of Seasons to take us by the hand and elevate us beyond our miserable flow…..a total (but necessary) devastation that enchants and fascinates. Only 3 tracks to indulge in without reservations (that’s the beauty of it otherwise it won’t work…and it won’t work). The Seventh won’t change the course of music but perhaps yes (in our small way we hope so)….From Roots! that’s all and as always good listening (here).
